“Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My Mouth”.
Jesus provides a very explicit warning unto those who don’t repent. Often times, believers will persist in their compromise because they do not recognize any consequences. They recognize that they are progressing behavior that is sinful. They fully understand that they are participating in harmful activity. They conscience is constantly reminding them that they are wrong. However, they don’t repent because it seems like whether they repent or not, things won’t really change. God won’t break into their circumstances when they are whole-heartedly seeking Him, why would he show up when they are sinning?
The Lord confronts this rebellion by assuring all believers that if they progress in their sin, no matter how long it takes; there will be severe consequences. Jesus will eventually destroy the wicked armies of the world with the sword of His mouth. He is explicitly clear regarding the details of His destruction of all who stand against Him. He is referencing that sword when He exhorts His people to repent. The consequences for persisting in sin are severe.
